Product Description

DSR-8618 is a very efficient associative alkali swelling thickener. It is a polyacrylic lotion with both association and cross-linking. When neutralized with alkali, lotion particles expand quickly, molecular chains fully stretch, thickening the aqueous phase. At the same time, hydrophobic groups rich in molecular chains also have good thickening efficiency for lotion phase.

Application and Usage:
Suggested addition amount is 0.2-2.0% (in finished form), the specific amount should be subject to experimentation; Before use, adjust the pH value of the thickening system to 8-9 with alkali, then dilute DSR-8618 with water in a ratio of 1:2, slowly add it under low-speed stirring, and stir thoroughly for more than 30 minutes.
DSR-8618 has good applications in high, medium, and low PVC systems. Due to its high degree of crosslinking and association, it is recommended to use the viscosity of the coating after 24 hours of preparation for the first time to prevent rapid increase in system viscosity caused by excessive dosage.
DSR-8618 is recommended for use in colorful paints. Compared to conventional alkali swelling thickeners, it has higher thickening efficiency, better suspension, looser and easier atomization, and reduces formulation costs. DSR-8618 can be used in both exterior wall coatings and artistic paints.
Adding a small amount of surfactants or ether co solvents to reduce low shear viscosity (Brookfield) can alter the rheological properties of DSR-8618, thereby further improving the flowability and leveling of the coating.
